About the Artist

Nevin DeLacour specializes in historic depictions of life in Pennsylvania. Working with oil paints, he creates scenes of historic buildings, past and present. Most of the works he has done are scenes in central western Pennsylvania. His love for history and art combine to create paintings that evoke warm feelings and memories of days gone by. “My parents would tell me stories about the “Good Old Days”, and in my paintings, I am trying to preserve something that I believe is being lost. The only way I know how to do that is with my brush.”

The artist is currently involved in painting the county seats of Pennsylvania. These are collage paintings that highlight the town’s historic buildings. They recreate a time when people cherished simple pleasures and time spent with family and friends. A leisurely stroll on the street, a sleigh ride, and children at play are all part of the scenes. To date the collection consists of Brookville, Ridgway, Kittanning, Clarion, Butler, Bellefonte, Greensburg, Franklin, Clearfield and Indiana Pennsylvania. A few organizations have commissioned Nevin for collage paintings entitled, “Historic Punxsutawney Pennsylvania”,
“New Bethlehem Pennsylvania”, “Historic Oil City Pennsylvania”, “Jefferson County Pennsylvania”, “Ford City Pennsylvania”, and “Worthington Pennsylvania”.

DeLacour is a former president of the Kittanning Art Association. He is a charter member of The Punxsutawney Arts Association. A 1981 graduate of Kittanning Senior High School, his senior class named him “most artistic male.” DeLacour has been painting in oils for more than 29 years. He is primarily a self-taught artist but credits his art teachers, JoAnn Tyrell and Ralph Taylor, for early training and inspiration. The late Esther Crum was his mentor. She introduced him to oil paints and the Kittanning Art Association.
